DECEMBER 1
THE DAY THE WWW WAS BORN
In December 1990, Tim Berners-Lee completed the first working prototype of the World Wide Web.
There was no TikTok, Google, Netflix, WhatsApp, or StoryMode…
There was only one idea: to create a system of documents connected by links to facilitate the exchange of information among scientists.
What Berners-Lee did not know was that he was inaugurating a new kind of human ecosystem:
a place where cultures meet, careers are born, creativity expands, and revolutions begin — all at once.
The WWW began as an experiment at the CERN.
Instead of sending files by floppy disk or standalone computer, Berners-Lee imagined:
"What if all information were connected?"
Three inventions came from this vision:
- the HTTP,
- the HTML,
- the first web browser.
They may seem simple today, but they were the modern equivalent of inventing:
🔌 an outlet
🧭 a map
📚 a library
🎹 and a piano — all on the same day.
They enabled everything else:
social networks • e-commerce • streaming • creative economy • generative AI • creators • online games • educational platforms • global communities
The WWW is literally the source code of modern life.
For our students, the WWW is more than history — it is digital identity.
-
✔ Creatividad distribuida
Cualquier persona puede crear, publicar, enseñar, inspirar, transformar. -
✔ Narrativa global
Tu contenido alcanza el planeta. Su impacto se amplifica mediante los algoritmos. -
Because nothing better represents the transition between worlds than crossing a screen.
"El Tejedor de Conexiones"
🧩 "Cada enlace es un hilo — y estás tejiendo tu propio futuro."
Ask students to create a "Map of the WWW in their life":
a diagram that shows how they learned something important through the Internet.
They should identify:
- the link that started it all,
- how they navigated it,
- what skills they developed,
- and how that changed their lives.
Esto genera conciencia crítica + valoración del aprendizaje conectado.
